1Energy is an independent developer of Low-to-Zero Carbon (LZC) heat networks in urban areas across the UK. 1Energy has the potential to significantly contribute to Net Zero targets, enhance air quality and public health, influence behavioural changes and support local economies through job creation and skill development.
1Energy asked RealWorth to develop a proposal for the creation of a Social Impact Strategy and general approach to measuring, optimising and reporting on the social value created by their activities.
First, RealWorth developed a Strategic Framework that provided a clear and concise overview to 1Energys social impact. This included a thematic approach to delivering social impact that resonated with 1Energy’s strategic priorities, and an outline of the KPI’s that 1Energy should commit to delivering against. A series of Case Studies were also developed demonstrating how 1Energys creates social value.
Second, a Social Impact Report was created, including of a gap analysis to demonstrate the additional social impact that could be created with similar levels of resource. We also identified ways to communicate 1Energy’s social impact to their wide range of stakeholders, including video vignettes, short interviews with beneficiaries and other activities.
Jonathan BroderickSales Director“Enjoyed working with RealWorth on this who brought optimism to everything discussed, they were also very pragmatic in seeing the business objectives but also keeping their ideals in the process making sure 1Energy were on track to improve its overall impact”.
