2-3 Degrees is a social enterprise that aims to inspire and equip young people with personal development skills needed to fulfil their potential. In partnership with a large developer, 2-3 Degrees set up a youth panel to provide a youth voice on regeneration projects.
RealWorth was commissioned to evaluate and quantify the social value generated by the young people as a result of their experience on the Panel. The study assessed the programme’s capability to deliver social value from the youth participant’s perspective, including growth in confidence, skills and career skills and knowledge, with the benefits expressed both quantitatively and qualitatively.
RealWorth conducted a Theory of Change exercise which determined 2-3 Degrees expected and desired outcomes of the panel. We then worked with 2-3 Degrees to understand the participants perspectives through monthly surveys and interviews. Key insights were also found by asking parents, carers or guardians of the young people if they had seen any changes. The findings of the study were then reviewed through a Social Return on Investment analysis, and reported to 2-3 Degrees in a digestible, easy to read way.
The project has assisted 2-3 Degrees in demonstrating that the Youth Voice Panel is a highly valuable program, and evidenced the benefits of involving young people in the built environment , which may contribute to the creation of better places and spaces for all.
