Castle House is a former co-op department store in Sheffield that has since been repurposed into a mixed-use building with a food court, offices and retail.
Northpoint Developments commissioned RealWorth to carry out a Social Value analysis and report for their plans to renovate and repurpose a former iconic department store in Sheffield.
A clear purpose of the report was to show to Sheffield City Council that its grant for the redevelopment of the building would be repaid through a boost in the local economy and the social value of surrounding communities
The purpose of the report was to show to Sheffield City Council that its grant for the redevelopment of the building would be repaid through a boost to the local economy and the creation of social value in the surrounding communities. Features of the scheme included street food offers, an arts college, maker spaces, technology enterprise accelerator spaces, and supported co-desking.
The analysis demonstrated that the bulk of social value would be experienced by business tenants, visitors and job opportunities for the wider local community.
