1Energy: Social Value Framework
Project Description
1Energy is a private developer of low-to-zero carbon (LZC) heat networks operating in cities across the UK.
With an ambition to lead the decarbonisation of heat in partnership with local authorities and government bodies, 1Energy is actively contributing to climate targets, air quality, public health and economic growth. However, the business recognised a need to better articulate and measure the social value it already delivers and identify opportunities to go further.
How we Helped
RealWorth was commissioned to create a Social Impact Strategy and Reporting Framework. The aim was to clarify 1Energy’s approach to social value, enabling the business to demonstrate impact in line with local authority priorities and investor expectations. RealWorth’s work sought to embed a thematic approach that was locally resonant, strategically aligned, and practical to deliver across projects.
The work also included a Social Impact Report outlining achievements to date, conducting a gap analysis to highlight areas of potential, and providing practical recommendations for improving social value outcomes.

Project Client(s)
[I] enjoyed working with RealWorth on this, who brought optimism to everything discussed. They were very pragmatic in seeing the business objectives, but also keeping their ideals in the process making sure 1Energy was on track to improve its overall impact.
